yeah, this is the new weezer album. i can't believe it. i was very skeptical about this album after hearing the single 'beverly hills'. i thought it would be very different from many of their previous releases. obviously it is very beautifully done as far as recording techniques are concerned. their sound is still very tight and so simple that is seems complex. there is a lot of keyboard and/or synth incorporated into this album. but rivers cuomo's voice is still freaking awesome. plus, his ability to write a power ballad is so evident in 'hold me'. the climax of the song is full of momentum and you can't wait for all of that energy to go somewhere. i like the song 'my best friend'...it just seems so happy. actually after listening to some of the background vocals of this album, i feel like they are some sort of 50s rock band that has been distorted, cranked up, and a bit 'emofied' if you will. my rating on this album: 4/5 stars!

mark is coming in from dallas today...woohoo! and then the wedding on saturday. then, sunday around noon i am outta here! i love everyone here, especially the fam, but i am ready to get out of here...it just sorta seems like the same ol' stuff.

today i got my hair cut. it was neat talking to my hair dresser. she was from mexico and it was good being able to talk to her in both spanish and english. she was trying so hard to learn english...and it was amazing how good she was. its interesting to talk to people where that is the case...give it a try some time!
