fun weekend of lots of music...lots of pictures:
thursday i was a volunteer for the festival.
I enjoyed downstairs fitzwillys and got to see many bands. a latin band known as alteza played first, they had a lot of energy and were quite entertaining. i wanted to SALSA! then an odd group known as flux minor played...not quite my style but definitely enjoyable. then, the headliner ethan durelle played. i've seen them for the third time now. each time they become even more amazing. they are just very captivating in their performance and highly climactic in their songs. not to mention their unique stage presence. also, they were really cool guys. they were fun to chill with and evan provides nothing short of lively conversation. prolly my favorite show of the whole festival.
since i had all ready done my volunteer time...the rest of the festival i was able to do whatever i wanted. not a bad deal...buying a $6 t-shirt to work a concert and then getting admission to all the other shows. the next night i saw bob schneider. the venue was packed...i was afraid i wasn't going to get in. but i was one of the last 10 or so to get in. and plus...lauren saved me a spot right up front. about 7 or so feet from bob. he was a fun entertainer. very comical lyricist and he knows how to play to the crowd. you can't really tell in the pictures above...but his head is freaking huge. he looks top heavy. i find it funny how messed up he is from drugs though, but hey...he rocks. swish was telling me that 30 minutes before the show bob asked him if he had time to get his car washed. sorta random...going to get your car washed at 10 at night. but hey...whatever!
after bob i moseyed on over to shadow canyon and caught part of the burden bros. concert. they were quite intense and the crowd was loving them. their singer is the ex-vocalist/drummer of the toadies. having seen the toadies before, it brought back such great memories. i moshed...i enjoyed it. they have a hit song on the radio entitled 'shadow' off of their album 'Buried In Your Black Heart'. one interesting thing about this band is that they were the first to start selling their music in 'packages'. a package would include the album, a t-shirt, shot glasses, stickers, etc. good marketing idea...prolly got their name out there...even though they didn't mean for that to happen. during the burden brothers set i went to zapato's and saw 'the jumping monks' play. they are a local band that is also pretty high energy. they are fun and just want to put on a show for a good time. nice atmosphere.
skylar blue opened for the burden brothers, but i just said hola to the chaps of SB and went and saw bob. i believe they're coming to college station some time soon so i decided to see bob instead. after the burden brothers i 'called it a night'.
the next day i started the show off with seeing stephen's band, b-team starter play at zapato's. good times.
afterwards i went to shadow again to be sure to get a good spot for better than ezra. i sat through the guords...who were sorta country but neat. after their set better than ezra came on. i didn't realize how many hits they have. the atmosphere was great...especially when they let a dude from the audience come up and play lead guitar. fun rockin' atmosphere!
anywho the weekend was fun. one more week till spring break! can't wait to get it over with. have a good one!
