Reflections of a Shape Shifter
I change my surface around you.
My exterior refracted and fuzzed.
A million masks, I sort through.

This social complexity I fixate,
Giving me a false aura of pleasantry.
I plot, I succeed, alone I mandate.

I feel like a king, powerful
Nothing of translucent denial
In my perception, beautiful.

Of all the harm I ensue
Of all the hearts I break
Pain given, where pain is due.

But I know I have potential.
For I will lose this persona,
Pain, alone, is existential.

Alive, renewed, with a clean slate
I crawl forward into darkness
Changing my former fate.

This poem was written by me, Adam Kelly.
