The words of the infamous prophet, Mike Layland:
Flogging Molly ...
I woke up this morning with an interesting and somewhat bizarre revelation.

The word Flog. As in 'I flogged him.'

flog ('fläg) : v 1 a to beat as if with a rod or whip.

This shows that the act of flogging is to take a large club of some sort and whack some intended object. What interests me about this is that the word flog has been around for a very long time, deriving from the Latin term flagellare.

The word golf, however, has not been around for a long time as it is the word for the prominent game most enjoy.

flog.
golf.

Is it simply that those creating the english language are:
a) Lazy goons who don't want to come up with new words.
b) Dyslexic beyond belief

What is this world coming to?
